MacMillan Coffee, Cake and Fun!
On the 14th August we held our annual charity event. This year we chose Macmillan Nurses to help support people with cancer. We managed to raise £400 with thanks to all those who supported and volunteered for the event. Stands included Who am I, plant and greeting card stands, bottle stall and raffle. Fun was had by all as our special guest this year was the team from the Theddlethorpe- Saltfleetby Nature Reserve who occupied many of us with making animal greetings cards and What's In The Box!
Nobody got wet feet at Rimac pond dipping
On the 16th August we had a trip to the Theddlethorpe- Saltfleetby Nature Reserve to partake in a spot of pond dipping. Despite the windy weather we managed to net water boatmen, stickle-back fish, dragonfly larvae and have a good look at them up close with a giant bug viewer.
Holivans awarded 2nd Gold for the David Bellamy Conservation Award and yet another 3 stars!
For the second year in a row we have been awarded another Gold David Bellamy Award for our commitment to conservation and for our efforts in going green! A big thank you to those who are using the green waste recycling bins near the pump station...it’s making lovely compost! We are also nearly a 4 star park, only missing out by 3 points! Next year with improvements we are going for the 4 stars.
Tow Bar extension– work starts end of October
Finally, we have got a date to start the building works! Building will begin at the end of October and the existing children's room will get a make-over too. The extension is a much needed facility as the children have “outgrown” the old one! We will keep you updated and we are looking forward to painting and decorating!
Pitch Gardening Competition
The winner of the gardening competition this year was Mr T Short who won a sparkly trophy and a luxury hamper. Well done to you! Other entrants received a highly commended certificate. Every garden was a host of colour and much hard work had being put into making the park look stunning. All entrants had their picture taken and are being displayed on facebook, so have a look and see if you've being snapped!
Judges from the Royal Horticultural Society VERY IMPRESSED!!
Speaking of stunning gardens, those who didn’t enter the competition but also keep their gardens absolutely beautiful—two judges from the Royal Horticultural Society who were judging Mablethorpe’s entry for Britain in Bloom were very impressed with everyone's effort in keeping the park looking good—they were so impressed their coming back next year!
So well done everyone!
